Thread: Catholic Child Abuse In Dublin Archdiocese

Default Catholic Child Abuse In Dublin Archdiocese

Nothing boils my blood more than listing to accounts of opium dealing priests abusing children so I've already let any church defender I know have it over the most recent revelations.

It always amazes me how anyone could listen to something like the Ryan report on Friday and then go to mass and listen to some possible peodofilic priest preach about morality the following Sunday. I tell them that on account of my principles there is no way I could participate in their nonsensical dogma and that the whole rotten institution should be removed from this society.

Am I a blatant hypocrite however? Like most people who use this website, I like to participate wholeheartedly in the sex industry. Some of the best moments of my life were spent with sex workers yet could a church defender immediately shoot back at me and say how can I prop up an institution which does lead to some horrible exploitation? Should my 'principles', which I talked about above, not force me to abstain from the sex industry?

That ain't gonna happen anytime soon so does this just expose my own hypocrisy? I think it's definately time for me to get off my 'moral high ground horse.' That is where certain sexually frustrated old men in collars used to reside, I suppose.

It's 2009 - this state no longer has an official 'special relationship' with the Catholic church. Every week I can look forward to good aul punt with some exotic lady from beyond the wave without fear of persecution. Viva life!

    What say all of you?

    Cheers

The point is, the vast majority of Escorts in this country are here willingly and engage in sex acts between adults, unlike the innocent victims of the so called Catholic Church.

Could a church defender not argue that the majority of priests are not child abusers? During one of my rants, I always end up saying that if one child is abused by a priest, then that's one too many and the whole institution needs to be shut down.

Again, a church defender could say that if one girl is trafficed and forced into sex work then that's one too many and the sex trade needs to be shut down entirely.

I suppose a fundamental difference between an institution like escort ireland and the Catholic church is that while EI promotes the benefits of this lifestyle, it doesn't shy away from the nasty side. For example, I always see anti-trafficing ads on this site. For years, the church inisisted that it was a beacon of morality while at the same time it covered up horrible abuse cases. I don't think for one second that the church would haved acknowledeged it's own deplorable failings if pressure didn't come from the outside.

I agree to an extent as only a small percentage of the clergy are peadophiles. Most child abuse occurs in the home

But the next time a priest questions your morals
Take a page from good old St Thomas Aquinous. It is better to risk excommunication than to voilate your conscious. So if you believe that seeing escorts is ok no priest can call your morality into question

I would never allow a member of that instituion to call my morality into question. In general, I don't really take the opinions of those who firmly belive in the likes of 'immaculate conceptions' seriously.

I can't see myself ever stop punting but this is an issue which makes me uncomfortable from time to time. Prostitution is the oldest profession there is (it may even out date religion) and I gain an enormous amount of satisfaction from it so I suppose the best thing to do from my point of view is try to promote full legalisation and comprehensive regulation so that exploitation is minimised.

I agree with you there. Sometimes I wonder how people like that can even exist.

It's the oldest profession there is, even older than man itself as most other primates and our ancestors all conduct(ed) prostitution, even if it's just giving food for sex.

Hypocrisy? What? If the priests back then had a good escorting agency around, then I would bet anything they wouldn't have resorted to raping the little ones in their care, at least not to that extent.

They got up on their high horses, they denied their humanity, and look what happened to them and to the poor people they were supposed to be looking after. Artificial systems are still going you know, still destroying people and torturing them. The only difference is that there's lots of more money at stake and they try to get things in order in a bit more sophisticated way now.

Everything bad happens when we go against nature. It's not natural to "abstain" from sex, especially not completely for the rest of your life. It's an evolutionary absurdity. (perhaps the person who first came up with the idea was a clever fellow though and an early natural selectionist )

Unless it's helping others, you should never do anything you don't want or deny yourself something you do want. The only exception would be if what you did want you wouldn't naturally receive... which can get hard and complicated.

I dont think all the abuse was out of sexually need. To some extent im sure it was but like most rape it is all about control.By this I mean in the instituitions, not in the parsihes.
It happens where a person is in a position of power.

Take the Stanford Prisn experiment by Zambardo where both college students acted out roles of both priosners and guards. After just 6 days the prison guards got too sadistic towards the prisoners to beat them down that even a few were sodomised

The issues raised in this report are that the Bishops and other Priests turned a blind eye to the abusers to maintain the good name of the church.

What I took from the case was the collusion between the church/state and police. Funnily enough the backbone of the GAA.

PS why do these people get referred to as paedophiles or child abusers- too lite

Call them what they are CHILD RAPING FACIST BRAINWASHERS.

Most priests work in a parish with other priests..
These lads must have seen what was going on or at the very least had their suspicions..

Saying nothing and turning a blind eye is as bad as the crime itself...
