    Default Child abuse via internet

Anyone see on the news the lad in cork who had almost 15,000 sick images of extreme child abuse including sexual on pc and disks along with 200 videos of the same content
Only got a 4 year suspended sentence. the law in ireland is stupid, why give 4 years but suspend all of it

Its sick and and that but a man like that is very sick, like genuinely mentally ill. thats so inhuman, something must snap in their minds to be so cold and make that type of material appeal to them

Is very sad though, imagine these kids and the horrors they experience. their families too and all that. they cant just do it for no reason, something is out of order in their minds, they probally cant control it. almost like a form of demonic, sadistic possession or something
I presume alot of this material comes from asia and maybe russia also?

The images/videos had babies under 1 years old and the rest were only innocent toddlers between 1-6 years old. its so sad, such a dangerous and sick world out there. really makes me think about the whole bigger picture in life. people dolling about in handy, meaningless jobs in offices, penpushing while theres this form of oppression and torture that is the only feeling others experience and are then most likely, killed and buried. the content is the worst ever seem by gardai who work i this area, cybercrime unit i suppose

Yes and the report on news said he was to stay on the sex offenders register for 4 or 5 years, what makes them think he will not be a risk after that time?, he and his like should at least stay on it for the rest of their lives.

I also recall a report a few years ago that Ireland was seen as an easy option for perverts from elsewhere and that Cork (including county) in particular has a higher percentage of them moving here when they have been convicted in UK for example.

What do you expect here.A guy strangles a 12 year old boy and there he is enjoying his new life on the cover of one of the Sunday papers. If it was some countries he would be still in jail, others he would be sentenced to death yet here he got three years or something.

    Angry Internet misuse

Yes but i expect true justice. if these people look at his then they may well be a risk to women and children in their own country. but then again mental stability is also taken into account

This man isnt getting jail at all. yes these customers fund this activity in the 1st instance but at the same time its a joke that these people arent tracked down at the source with all the cyber technology and forensics in use nowadays. if it aint on the net men cant view it but then again if men had no demand for it then it wouldnt be there either. theres always a few bad apples lying about

Which came 1st, the chicken or the egg. the customer or the provider.

Yer man from Ballymaloe House cookery school and restaurant got away with just a fine a few years ago for exactly the same thing...

Guess who was the sitting Judge and also a regular diner at Ballymaloe long before this court case (and after) ?

    Thumbs down Rights?

Thats true, darina allens husband, she stood by him and all with his kids as if it was a small minor offence. that lad has a dodgy demeanour about him. its all about who they know, connections and all that. shur loads of garda and judges were found with the same content on their pc's. total hypocrits!
I suppose they have to take into account the potential of successful rehabilitation, when they say sex register for only 4-5 years. laws are too lax in ireland especially for serious crime. rights of the offender and all that, what about the violation of their victims rights? also, with such a topic im suprised that more members didnt partake in the discussion.

A bit unfair bringing that case up in relation to sexual abuse, there was no sexual element to that crime and there was no evidence that the guy planned to kill the child.
He killed him by accident then panicked and hid the body a terrible thing to do but not in the same league as the soham murders or anything like that.

The problem with these cases is that I think the judges don't view those pictures as actual child abuse, they don't get to see the victims so all they see is some guy with all these witnesses saying how good he is and his mother needs him etc. And the victims of the crime are forgotten about they are just anonymose images not real children with devestated lives.

I agree. The law needs a certain amount of separation from issues but the degree of separation in these cases seems to be too much.

fact of the matter is someone who gets off on child porn is just as bad as the person committing the act, they are providing a market for it the images.

they should be treated accordingly. Suspended sentences are a joke. Put them in the Joy, let the real crims get their hands on them.
