Are any escorts or former escorts interested in starting a union with me?

The idea would be we start a website (seperate to this site) with a message boards etc, where escorts can freely discuss all the issues that impact on escorts, like the law, healthcare etc.

All escorts are invited to join this union.

The first thing we'd do is vote in a committee, e.g. a press officer, a message board moderator, a recruitment officer etc.

We'd then see what we can do together to help each other.

I'd like to carry out some surveys and work to educate the press and fight for legal changes that will make it safer for escorts in Ireland.

Important issues would always be voted on, so when we went to the government or the media, we could say this is not one person asking for this, it is 100+ escorts.

We'd start out as quite a small informal union I imagine, but the project could grow into something bigger, we could even get formal union status and join SIPTU one day! Escorts in the UK have done it, see | iusw

At first the project would be in some way financially supported by E-I as I would be paying for website, hosting etc, but it could gain total financial independence if members all agreed to pay a small membership fee. Of course, it would also be connected to E-I in terms that I started it, but it wouldn't be like E-I, because it wouldn't be owned by me, it would be owned by the members, and if the members didn't agree with me or want me having a role, I could be voted out.

Any thoughts?

I know this is only an idea, but many great things start out as small ideas.

Just wanted to add my support for this thing if it ever gets of the ground, the girls need as much help as they can in this business. Whatever people think, nobody can ever ensure their safety and there is no legislation in this country to even recognise them in a professional circumstance. The gardai can only help so much after an escort has had a bad experience and they need more support and recognition for the business they are in. Because lets face it, legal or not, this business is not going to die out anytime soon and there is no sense in the government and public constantly tip-toeing around it. Good luck girls.

Thanks everyone, on my iPhone here so I'll be brief and reply in full later. Regards me not being neutral, I agree I am not perfect person to start this project, but is anyone else going to if I don't? Also you'd have my word that I'd behave professionally, I wouldn't try to stop ladies campaigning for better pricing on E-I or anything like that. Essentially this union would be set up as one vote per member and I would be no more powerful that any other member.
