I have never had any hassle in hotels. Generally the staff don't give a monkeys what you're up to if it's during the daytime. The escort should give you the floor and room number before you enter the building - then just walk to the lift and off you go. If you are anxious or embarrased pretend to be on your mobile as you stroll through the lobby (just make sure you switch it off first as it might ring!).

I don't know about the lift needing a card - this has never happened to me, and I've been visiting, ahem, friends in hotels for a lot of years. However, if this is an issue then the escort will know about it and take steps to sort the problem - perhaps meeting you in the lobby or in the lift.

After 8 or 9 o'clock staff do tend to be a bit more watchful of who is going where as they don't want people booking a room for one and allowing their 5 friends to sneak in. But nowadays most hotels charge by the room rather than the number of occupants, so this is less of a issue.

I have heard stories of nosey managers giving escorts hassle but, again, these efforts will most likely be aimed at the escort not her punters.
