Have friends — check.

Invited them for a dinner party — check.

Need to impress them with your culinary ability — erm... wait, what?

Nothing against engineers — you can add any profession in the title that's stereotypically not supposed to know anything about cooking — but sometimes one needs a little help in the kitchen.

Cooking for Engineers is a website that started out as a place for its founder to store recipes he came across and some of the notes he took. It developed into something much more: a collection of handy tips, information, and great recipes.

In the words of its founder, Michael Chu: "Basically, I started the site as a place to store all the food related stuff that I didn't want to have to carry around in my brain, but I would want to reference later. Sometimes people ask me (or quiz me) about cooking and there's a tendency for me to smile and respond with, 'I wrote it down so I wouldn't have to remember!'"
