The 'victim' story is only for general public to gain their acceptance and sympathy but when cops raid the places they dont treat the girl anything similar with being victims but as someone who willingly chose this job . I heard stories from girls who was raided with garda female looking down to them and insulting them asking 'why they chose to do this, she dont like to work?' and male cops talking not nice calling them names and generally making them to feel very low and inferior or to repeat what a girl who have been raided said : ''You just get left with a sense of worthlessness and not a part of society :-( '' Where is the victim approach there? Where is Ruhama then to step and say hey she is a victim lets try to 'save her from prostitution and offer her clear exit pathway bla bla bla#? she is nowhere around to protect the 'victims' and when cops take the girls money then Ruhama say thank you and put our money in her pocket for the... victims (?) . The sad thing is who claim they care about us and wanna help us actually they are first who ROB us. I will retire soon but i will remain with the conclusion that escorts and escorting world are the most misunderstood and between the most persecuted category of people. Sad

Too true. The theft (as it often is) of money earned by escorts is reprehensible its arrival in the coffers of Ruhama disgusting. As I have a very low opinion of the police in regard to all aspects of their work I will refrain from commenting on their behaviour
during these so called raids.

Christian social policy charity CARE has launched a new campaign aimed at changing Britain's laws on prostitution.

The charity's 'not for sale' campaign argues that a way of protecting people in prostitution is to criminalize the purchase of sex, shifting the burden of blame onto the buyer rather than the seller.

At present in England, Wales and Scotland there is currently no law that says it is illegal to buy sex, though Northern Ireland made it a criminal offense in 2015.

Buying sex is now illegal in Sweden, Norway, Iceland, Canada, France, the Republic of Ireland and Israel.

According to CARE, evidence from Sweden shows that the law has been effective at reducing the demand for paid sex which in turn means the country is now a more hostile place for human traffickers.

CARE says many of the women who find themselves in prostitution were abused as children, had difficult or traumatic childhoods, or suffered from some other vulnerabilities such as substance abuse, or were destitute or homeless.

It says it is vital to reduce the demand for prostitution as well as providing clear exit pathways and support for those wishing to leave.

CARE's senior policy officer for human trafficking, Louise Gleich, said: 'It's time for Westminster and Holyrood to change our outdated laws on prostitution by following the evidence and Northern Ireland's lead by criminalizing the purchase of sex.

'This is why CARE is launching the 'not for sale' campaign – to highlight the need for new laws to protect some of society's most vulnerable people.

'There's really great work being done by organizations to support and care for victims but if we don't change the surrounding environment to help prevent people from being exploited then more and more people will be going through the same cycle.

'For too long people trapped in prostitution have been largely ignored by our policymakers: this must change.'

Why are people saying this? From what I know, Jeremy Corbyn wanted to decriminalise the sex industry.

Criminalisation of the sex industry generally comes from the political right, not the left. It was the Conservative party in England that introduced all sorts of ridiculous laws on pornography in recent years. It was the DUP that spearheaded legislation to make payment for sex illegal in NI. Corbyn and McDonnell have both spoken about decriminalising the purchase of sex, much to the confusion of partisan feminists.

I made this point either on this or a related thread. However, it is only fair to point out that when Theresa May was Home Secretary she showed little interest in the introduction of the Nordic Model. This is in direct contrast to Fitzgerald over here who virtually licked the backside of Ruhama.

But there isn't much appetite for the Nordic model within Labour (UK) either, that's all I was saying. Jeremy Corbyn definitely doesn't support it.
