beware of 083 numbers

I have fallen foul of the dreaded 083 no ans syndrome again more fool me "fool me once"etc. you ring no answer and before you can hang up you have got ans machine which chops a hefty chunk off your credit no more calls to 083 nos. for me at least twice bitten maybe more is enough

How can an answering machine "chop a hefty chunk off your credit"? It is part of the original phone call and so is charged at the same rate as any call to an 083 number no matter where that call is redirected to.

No that can happen especially with 3 if you're ringing off different network
