I don't think the lads have to pay to be escorts for the Roses. They're probably there because some auld eejit back in the day reckoned these girls wouldn't be able to do//find/sort anything without a lad on their arm.

i used to an escort for a rose of tralee ,you don,t have to pay to be an escort but if they want anything like drinks or meals or stuff like that you have to pay for them i spent alot of money that weekend during the roses and all i got was a peck on the cheek
