Ugly Mugs, who report this, and SWAI link this rise to the new law. Ruhama, unsurprisingly, doesn't.

So this law is having its intended effect - to make the lives of sex workers hell on earth!
It is only one of two laws that I know of which have been passed in The Republic, where it would have been known in advance that very real harm would be done by it, the other is the even more misogynistic constitutional ammendment, equating a woman's life in value terms to a foetus!

Sadly this was clearly indicated by myself and others for some time now. SWAI are doing good work but because unlike Ruhama they are not part of Official Ireland i.e. insiders they will be politely listened to
but quickly forgotten.

Fitzgerald got the "deterrent" she wanted and expected. Not a deterrent to clients, but to the sex workers themselves - achieved by facilitating violence.
The number of escorts advertising is way down.

One thing. It doesn't help when a small minority of escorts will use false uglymugs reports for selfish purposes - like revenge for a review or make rivals in the area rejects calls from "their" clients.

(For any conspiracy theorists, I am not talking about ISB who is one of the most scrupulously honest person I know)

I am not surprised that Ruhama completely ignore the findings, they done the same when objections to the new law were raised. Ruhama have their own agenda & do not spare a thought or care about the welfare of sex workers or others, only themselves. They have to keep lining their own pockets with tax payers money.

Just as I argued, that this law would put the escorts that do need help in a more desperate place than they were before the introduction of this law. This law does absolutely nothing to protect or help those that Ruhama claimed that the Swedish Model would help, in fact it does the opposite, as illustrated by the findings & the newspaper article. What will it take before Ruhama realise & admit that the increase in violence towards sex workers is of their making & their campaign to have this law passed.
