    Default Phone fraud

This morning I got a missed call from Somalia. I don't know anybody in that troubled country. So my guess is I phone the number back and am charged a fortune for doing so. It's really quite clever because I keep wondering what it's about. So far I have resisted the temptation. So I am wondering if anybody heard about a scan going around.

Heard of various scams like that over the years. If it's a genuine caller they'll leave a message.
Well done for resisting your curiosity.

After enjoying baiting the Indian Tech Support scammers for a few weeks I've learned a few choice Hindi phrases to have some fun with them

I look forward to the madher chod's calling me now as they don't expect a mouthful of insults in their native tongue

I keep getting calls claiming that they have without any access to my computer detected a virus on it and they need to talk me through how to get rid of it. You would have to be a serious moron to fall for that.

The first time they called I told them to go fuck themselves now I just hang up as soon as I hear the Indian accent.

I did some research on this scam and it's apparently related to the TalkTalk hack. Must have been how they got my details. Scumbags.

My elderly aunt in Kerry was scammed for €650. She got an official looking letter saying she had one the Spanish lottery. Poor woman fell for it and rang the number which kept telling her to hold. These fraudsters are the lowest of the low.
