You prob find that each banning is warranted, problem is most posts which led to this action are usually deleted so unless you are online at the time you may never know the real reason behind it.

I also think the banning system is a bit to soft.
For each banning the time should be increased.
First offence 1week , 2 offence 2 weeks and so on and if you behave yourself for a set period then the slate gets wiped.

A bit childish maybe but then we are dealing with very childish people here.

The other side to that is there's nothing to stop someone immediately opening another account, or having some spare alt's saved away for a rainy day.

There's another UK site that moderate you're first 20 posts.
Takes man hours to control which E-I probably won't invest but puts a stop to that carry on.

Do you not notice these accounts that appear and just post the odd out of place comment or start a few threads then never post again?

There's only one way to make sure people only have one account, but due to the nature of the subject matter of here it would kill it overnight - so we're stuck with what we have.

yes some people will post to find out something or point out something and let it go and not post again, its not healthy to be on here all the time

My point about those 10 post wonders is that they get a few posts then archive the account for when their main gets banned. It looks less bad if they can jump right in with an old account to carry on the bullshit. There's nothing you can really do to stop it.

If an account has not been used in say a 6 month period it should be archived. Surely there's a simple programme for that.

I have took a multi year break from here at times, should I lose my account after that? (well to be fair I did lose my old one but I'd rather not have).

No but if there was a simple way of getting it reactivated it wouldn't be a problem....... A simple e-mail to E-I.

Only if you're daft enough to not use a throwaway email address. As it's illegal in the north I'd be mad to use an active email address for E-I.

No point banning as all they do is come back as someone else and start the same shite again and again and again
A good idea is for newbie,s only allowed a few post every day until the powers to be are sure they are not a banned old user if they suspect they are then just let them have limited access.

This will go down like a lead balloon but the state of this forum would never have happened in Samlads day.

i havent seen anything that actually warrented a ban, just people getting their knickers in a twist over the silliest things

some cleaning was due. I admit. we are right on the ball now. watch this space

more established users could give us a hand, instead of complaining about the Mods, being too lenient / too proactive, closing the threads / leaving them open, etc etc.
and maybe constant complaining how bad this forum has gone, is contributing to the general mood a bit?
