Otherwise a perfectly formed rod to beat a politican's back especially in the mildly puritanical public life of America.
And it's much more about political point scoring than morality.
A guy called Gary Hart had to pull out of the race for the Democratic Presidental nomination, in the eighties, when his extramarital affair with someone called Donna Rice became public knowledge.
And in more recent times, a guy called Anthony Weiner, effectively ended his political career by sexting and sending pics, not so much of his wiener but of himself in his underwear to women.

I don't think anyone who does a "kiss and tell" for money deserves any sympathy.

I still find it hard to understand how Clinton came through that in a way that no one else has. Far from being disgraced he still goes to the best parties. If someone wrote a book about it where he later supported his wife in a presidential bid it would be rejected as much too far-fetched.
