Who wants their private business out for the world to comment on.

As someone who's lived online since dial up AOL in 1998 and used the same username across many, many forums and services, when I eventually got an interest in security a few years back (mostly via the fantastic Security Now podcast) when Googling said username there was so much information and pics out there on it. It took years to purge it, and even then there's still some residual info and of course whatever is on the Internet Archive Wayback machine. It really opened my eyes to the fact that once something is on the internet, it's pretty much there for good.

Yeah its real. Their algorithm trawls the Internet and 'snapshots' webpages (not forums or anything complex apart from maybe a forum homepage) seemingly at random, but also anyone can click a single button and add any webpage they want to and they snapshot and keep it available for ever. I'm unsure if you would have any recourse to have anything removed from it since they're a non profit archive.

I'm not sure if there is an 'internet wayback machine' but I know all to well that there is one fact and one fact alone about the internet, even back to Dial up AOL which I too remember fondly, and that is;

Once its on the Internet, its on te internet forever, someone somewhere has copied it, someone somewhere has saved it. It will never be removed, and never be forgotten.

It's the only downside to the Internet really, wherever you go, if your bot careful, you leave massive footprints behind you. And its not the 'wayback machine' you'd need to worry about, there are Data Collectors and Miners on the Dark Web who just spend their lives illegally collecting and storing peoples data.

If you have a phone on an account, you probably have never bought a pre pay ph.

they are not perfect though, i found battery life was dreadful and lost network. i had to buy a new sim as the 2nd one as an existing one wouldn’t work or wouldnt get data, only phone
