First fatality (in the United States) involving a Tesla occurred on 7th May.
Still considerably safer than human drivers.

“Many unforeseen circumstances can impair the operation of Traffic-Aware Cruise Control,”
“Always drive attentively and be prepared to take immediate action.”
    From the Tesla car manual.

Truck turned across its path and the car couldn't distinguish the difference between the colour of the trailer and the sky
No side rails on truck so the car buried itself underneath

    Pointless technology

Fuck that. I'll never trust a machine to automatically transport me from A to B with no human control.

Not many trusted the horseless carriages in the beginning.
The driverless technology is in it's infancy and will doubtless be refined, but no I wouldn't trust it. At the moment, I guess the person in the driving seat still has to watch the road even if free to do other things with their hands.
Heard a few years back that airbus planes now only have e lectronics (not physical wires) connecting the pilot to the ailerons/flaps that steer the plane.
If something took the electronics out, you could re-enact the plane scene from. Father Ted.

    Shalom/salaam.
10,000 years of Middle Eastern civilisation and the place is not at peace but rather in pieces.
