not saying we will not allow new members to post, I am saying that we will monitor their first 10 posts

how is it? it only will target genuine decent newbies as most that sign up are genuine people anyway and we were all newbies at some stage, it will only limit their input to the forums and put them off, the forums at present are very stale with only a handful of members bringing some useful info and light entertainment to the table, it may sound like a great idea to those members already established but again they are only thinking of themselves here not others who would like to join and contribute as definitely this forum needs new blood and by bringing in such measures will only diminish the supply.

for now let's start with monitoring and see if there is a need for any further restrictions.

Yes exactly, trolls already have in many cases multiple accounts.
Number of posts or waiting period will only mean they'll operate an account in a reasonable fashion before using it when the opportunity arises to have their fun.

Without posting the IP addresses, post the usernames posting from the same IP and let the people decide.

That was always fun times on the forums I ran way back when. Yes there is legitimate reasons why a few members have the same IP (on mobile for example), but with the same 'style' of posts (ie the same poor spelling/grammar) from multiple new accounts with the same IP it's pretty clear if its the same person.

Having said that, I hope you understand that your point itself is a complete waste of time. If this is important to people, no one is going to say "oh wow that person said its just a forum and I shouldn't care, let me go enjoy the sunshine!".

What people forget this site has a good ranking because of the traffic. The truth is when there is something naughty going on here the views are over 100.. when all is nice and sweet, the views are under 100, if you get what I mean.

Moderators are paid to do a job, not to make new rules, seek whatever and improve cause we ask for. Them decisions to change/etc are coming from different people. Those who have been here for years should know this.

thing is it will eat you up if you become too involved or take it too serious, some people think this is their whole life, i remember the old days on here when people were fighting like cats and dogs on a daily basis and trolling like no tomorrow, ignore the trolls and comment only on the threads that interest you, , right, im off to enjoy the sunshine, good luck
