    No Brex please... We're British.

Placard at an anti-brexit rally in London.

Many poor people who feel disenfranchised in modern Britain instinctively voted out, in a protest fashion at their lack of well paid jobs and the large number of migrants they see in their communities.
In reality it seems that since 2001 migrants (once their remittanceshome, healthcare costs etc are taken out of the equation) have contributed about £5 billion to the British economy.
The job losses were forced by modern economic reality of competing with low cost economies for low skilled jobs and by decisions taken by their own British government. The coal mining industry, for instance, was mostly nationalised/government owned as it was not profitable for private ownership. Thatcher initiated the closures because it was far cheaper to buy Polish/American /South African coal with their fR lower production costs.
