Default Sexual Offences Bill restored to Dáil order of business

It's officially back on the agenda guys and will effectively carry on from where the process ended before the election.
The Batty Chick is back at it again in the papers and on the airwaves. She really is a disgrace of a politician who continues to deny the growing evidence which casts serious doubts concerning the efficacy of her beloved Swedish model. I find it deeply disturbing that a person who is well paid by taxpayers shows no interest what so ever in educating herself in relation to serious question marks regarding proposed legislation which is obliged to examine before its passage into law. Together with the bumbling fool Fitzgerald we really are blessed with amazing law makers!!!

Is there any timeline on this?
The Batty Chick was on Montcrief yesterday and she stated she was disappointed with Amnesty International's stance, mentioned nothing of her support for a recommendation of the JOC (so insane it's not even in the Bill) to legally equate anybody looking at an escort website including EI to a child rapist downloading child porn! She also suggested it would only be a small fine on punters and conveniently ignored that this bill will further actually criminalize sex workers including the sanction of a term of imprisonment for a first offence! The Batty Chick is projecting the notion that sex workers will be decriminalized, the exact opposite is actually the case, there is no further decriminalization and increased criminal sanctions on sex workers! It is truly stomach churningly disgusting stuff!
And I see that Fitzgerald is being touted as Enda's replacement as Taoiseach!
    Ride them on the beaches!

It's hard to put a timeline on this as it is a relatively long and complex bill which has a lot of other stuff in it which in itself is a disgrace. However, it is very unlikely that there will be time to pass it before the boys and girls go on holidays. You are probably looking at it passing all stages by late autumn. Because not all new laws take immediate effect it could be some time in 2017 before we start getting our collars felt. Fitzy may be the Mayo lads choice but not sure that view would be widely shared within the party. She has not covered herself in glory dealing with the crisis in Justice lately either.

Lara's case is scheduled to be held before The Belfast High Court in late September, they will try their level best to have it passed by then as if it's laughed out of court in Northern Ireland, it will be a no goer here, surely!

The Batty Chick and the other supporters of this madness would have it passed in emergency session if they could get away with it. But the majority of the Dáil have more important things on their mind e.g. Irish Water and the Budget in October. TBH I don't see any final verdict from the North this year and this will probably end up in London anyway. Seems highly likely this bill will end up on the statute books here next year I'm afraid. Then it will be up to High Court/Supreme Court to decide its fate but that may take years.

Indeed it may take the European Court of Human Rights to laugh it out of court!

So what if they make it illegal. The country is crumbling and the Gardai are melting down due to pay so shit that new Gardai can barely feed themselves. If they cant stop a small number of known hardened criminals waging open warfare on the streets of Dublin they will never stop 500,000 Irish and foreign men having sex in private homes in every town and city in Ireland.

Just as they cannot stop tens of thousands of people smoking dope in private homes. However, if they do catch you, as one of the unlucky ones a public humiliation and a fine awaits. The repercussions for some in terms of relationships and problems at work are significant so in reality it does matter that it is made illegal even though it will be difficult to enforce in practice.

It will also in the short run at least lead to a lot of people halting or curtailing their punting activities which will impact upon the economic fortunes of most sex workers. I know what I intend to do once this nonsense comes in but I am not in a position to disclose this course of action at present.

The pigz will enforce it to lickhole the Minister and it quite possibly will have selective application and primarily working class punters will be targeted. The great and the good and the Pigz themselves will get a free pass on this one as per usual!
