You have to be some kind of **** to want to be police in this country, a politically motivated force, not real police.

I have 100% no sympathy for new recruits.

Not sure about men in uniform but talking about uniforms and Guards i was in one day in a taxi and on traffic light i have seen a guard at list upper body was dressed like a Guard but he was wearing leather trousers down so i was like and i asked the taxi driver: " that guy is a Police guy?he wear leather trousers?"??? and taxi driver said " yes it is , yes he wear because he is on the bike" and indeed 2 meters away was a bike... was looking good in that leather trousers the guy even was not on slimmer side but still sexy :

I don't know Garda pay rates, other than what I've read that Gardai start out on 23k which frankly is ridiculous.

A Garda should start on about 30k and go up to 45k within 10 years.

As far as I know it currently takes about 20 years to attain €45k as a Garda

To be honest I don't think it's enough. It's a tough job dealing with scum most of the day.
No wonder they can be a bit grumpy, 10 scum bags followed by one decent person.

I always approach them with a smile and I'm friendly and I get no hassle whatsoever.
And to be honest I probably deserve hassle as I'm always getting pulled in my car.
