I'm telling you that our own self respect and value for life is the reason for getting tested, well beyond any legislation and I can tell you one thing. If it was legalised I would not be coming forward to get tagged as it would stop me leaving the career and doing many other very worthwhile jobs, so you would always still have many working under the radar, because we value the whole of our life and not just the here and now.

Ah I'm not familiar with Irish law. I was referring to the UK. So you are telling me that the Escorts in Ireland don't get tested? Funny that as I've been tested 3 times in Dublin and the place I went to was always very busy. No one being told what to do there, so not sure why we were all there?

I believe I met some street workers too. The only ones that wouldn't necessarily get checked would be the ones that had no choice.

I am sure that many, indeed lots of escorts who are informed, in charge of their own destinies and concerned about their health, get tested and get tested regularly.
But of this I am sure, that I am sure of nothing at all.
The world of escorts is a world of smoke and mirrors and the further it is driven underground, the more opaque it becomes.
This will likely be the net effect once Frances gets one of her favourite bills on the statute books.
And even though smoke is in your eyes and the image in the mirror is distorted, you can, rightly or wrongly still guess.

Kate makes a very valid point about not wanting to register as an escort if prostitution were ever legalised.

I'm not sure of the perfect solution but I am sure Frances will make life worse for clients and escorts

It depends on where you are. I believe there are places you can go to in both the North and the South that are free and discrete. I recall someone telling me there is a walk in centre in Londonderry guys can use (not Sex workers). Perhaps EI could add a sticky on here of the places that clients can go to for this, as I think it is very important.

There are many many doctors offering sexual screening in Dublin. They don't care what name you give. Although why anyone would care about not giving your name is beyond me as they can't tell anyone and aids tests are all anonymous
