Thread: Calling Etiquette

  1. Default Calling Etiquette

If you ring and your call isn't answered, what's the etiquette for ringing again? I don't want to ever inundate someone, but also don't want to miss someone. I usually leave it 15 and then 30 mins. Is that reasonable?

Ring early in the day(but not too early!)
Ring a few times on or a couple of minutes before the half hour.
Suggest forgetting about 15 minute intervals.
If know the person could try leaving a text.
If no response, could hazard another call or two later in the day.
If no response, forget it, maybe try again another day.

I would normally just ring the once ,if there is no answer they may be busy , sometimes get a call back( just one ring ,)letting me know they are now available ,

I'd try a few times then leave it. If you haven't arranged anything else in the next hour or so then ring back. It also depends who you're ringing and how well you know them. Some will ring you back as soon as the can - or they'll send you a text to let you know to ring them. If you've tried a few times with no response, you could always send a short text saying you would like to meet for X duration on X day and that it'd suit you best between the hours of X and X. Then leave it to him/her to get back to you. If nothing else, you'll have had lots of X that day . (I'm sorry, I'll get my coat)

Few words from me, if you allow.
I know from talking to the advertisers, that if you are too persistent they might not want to see you either.
    Understandably.

You have to find the golden formula to secure the booking but yet not to overwhelm anyone at the same time.

Sounds about fight as there is no written rule.
After about 3 time,s no point trying anymore, if they are really interested then they will ring once and then hang up
That,s your cue to ring them

Can't agree more, if I'm bombarded with calls from a guy, then I do get suspicious. If I have missed a call & it's within a reasonable amount of time, either I drop the guy a text saying I can answer calls or a quick call back.

Ringing once (if you do not get answered immediately) is not the optimum.
About 3 times on the hour or the half hour.
Some may call you back when they are free.
    A very few may text.
The most likely is the ol' missed call(their phone number just flashes up on your phone)
Some, for reasons of discretion will send you nothing but your second or third call may catch them.
And if after 3 /4 spaced calls, no response, try another day.
Ad can be up but they may occasionally take a day off especially Sunday or have had enough bookings for that day.
