    Unhappy Unbelievable

Seems like the end has come for Sharapova in tennis, also Nike major sponsor suspended her contract straight away ... sad

I know, I am gutted. I really like her.
Maybe they will not punish too harshly.

Last person in tennis you would have suspected. Many more players have had rumours around them for years.

Meldonium is a drug that aids blood flow and is used to treat patients suffering from heart failure and cardiac issues.
It was found to help the performance of healthy athletes because it can increase endurance and aerobic capabilities. There was evidence that it was being used for that purpose so it was banned.
The excuse given is that she was taking it for legitimate medical purposes would suggest she has heart failure and/or cardiac issues. This is hard to believe given she is a professional athlete and is obviously so fit.

Major part of her defence will be to get a doctor who will say she has a specific medical condition justifying her taking the drug. That may be difficult.

How do you know she hasn't a "one shot rule"?

She is a big girl, 6' 1" is her stated height, although it is rumoured she is taller.
I am reliably informed she does not look as good or as feminine in person.

She is 6ft 21/2...she was staying in the same hotel in Geneva and she is actually even better in person.

At almost 29 years of age does she have much of a career left anyway? I have always admired her from the time she came on centrecourt as a 17 year old and outsmarted Serena Williams. Looks like the biggest loss she will make will be the endorsements. It goes to show the lengths these people are willing to go to get to the very top.
It reminds me of when Frankie Sheehan got banned from playing for munster a few years ago because he "forgot" to put down on the medical forms that he was asthmatic and took an inhaler, a fairly common problem with professional rugby players apparently. (I wonder how he is now). He got away with it then but I cannot see Sharapova getting away this.

I wouldn't believe a second the idea with the heart condition.. considering the trainings and effort you have to put to compete at such level... i am kind of afraid she will be given as example.. as it was an entire brand build around her... she might be band from tennis for good
