    Default Nelson's Pillar

It will be 50 years tomorrow (8/3/1966 - 8/3/2016) since this monument to Nelson was blown up.

It was where the Spire now stands.............

Who here remembers it? went up to the top? (it was 121 feet) or indeed cares about it.

For many Dubliners it was the landmark for everything, meeting loved ones for a date, or for all the nurses and civil servants............getting a lift down the country.

Ah! Dublin in the rare ould times.

I remember it woke me up as I lived fairly close. Next morning everyone was collecting bits of rubble as souvenirs, still have a piece...somewhere?
