Post What do sex workers want? - TEDx

Very interesting Tedx talk from sex worker Toni Mac.

    What did you all think?

    Seriously!?!
No-one has any opinions on this, I thought people would be very interested in this given the insane laws, that have been enacted up the north, proposed for the republic and may well be put into action by the Summer.

Personally, I agree with Toni Mac, I think that decriminalisation (like the system used in New Zealand) is the safest system for both the sex workers as well as the clients.

Yeah we get it. You want everyone on the boards to look at you like you are a caring person. Cool. We love you, you're doing nothing wrong. Now move on.

Yes I have to agree. Decriminalisation is the best option. The sex industry will never die, it's the oldest job that exists. And if you invent stupid laws to try and stop it, it will only make things worse for both sex workers and clients. Out of desperation some might choose to see dangerous clients and think that maybe they won't get hurt. And that is not okay. Having to hide about it and having to pretend that sex isn't a normal thing makes things worse. Making escorting illegal will only make people want it more. It's like when you're told not to do something,l for fear of being punished, the feeling of doing it, even though you may get caught is still arousing, that adrenaline. Men choose to see escorts for various reasons, and it's their choice. No one is forcing them to see a specific someone, just as no one is forcing an escort to see a certain client she may not want to see. But it will take years until the rest of the world will come to the same conclusion as New Zeeland, or maybe it won't come to that conclusion at all.

    I completely agree with her.

    It's a good speech.

But if as she says brothels are illegal in Brazil, they also have "termas" (spas) which are visible, similar and legal. You pay an entrance fee to rent a cubicle; chat to the girls in the bar; head off to the cubicle with your girl(s). I've never tried one, unlike Mr J Bieber:

Seems that yanks are asked to pay tips, but the rest of us know that there's no tipping in Brazil.

It's a very good speech and said in a nice simple way that makes sense of the reality. I've been pushing the New Zealand model for the last two years. It's the way to go.

To be fair it's a lot easier when you see an escort that is truly genuine and well established. It gives that feeling of reassurance, because she knows how to protect both herself and the person visiting her I say don't give up, just look for the well established and well reviewed ladies xxx
