    Unhappy What do you think?

I have seen a couple of weeks ago a post over the internet that Dublin council wants to forbid busking and street performance, just like they tried to do in Liverpool and Leeds. Why? Because some shop owners complained of the noise the amplifiers and the instruments made. There has also been a petition signed by people, to prevent that from happening. It has got over 6,000 signatures. What do you think of the Dublin council's decision to stop busking and street performance?

I for one think it's a piece of crap and they can shove it up their arses with a pitchfork. Dublin is the capital of Ireland and an attraction to thousand or maybe more tourists a year. Leaving that aside, busking and street performances are something that made me fall in love with Ireland in the first place. Even when I have a bad day, when I walk past by someone who performs on the street I take a couple of minutes to listen or watch. It's something so relaxing to see, and so natural that when I go back home on holiday I really miss it. It's part of Ireland's identity, why would they want to take it away? After all street performers attract more tourists, therefore more people that would likely pop into those shops and have a look?

What is your opinion on that guys? Would you agree with stopping street performances or would you approve with them? Xxx

I don't see anything wrong with that but i'm guilty of giving them money as I walk by but that was for them to stop playing

Dublin city council have a notorious reputation for being muppets. It'd be a shame if they kill the music.

Being reasonable, intelligent, types(not miserable, killjoy, penpushers);they reckon tourists will still flock to Ireland for the weather, even in the absence of local colour.

    Shalom/salaam.
10,000 years of Middle Eastern civilisation and the place is not at peace but rather in pieces.

Quality busking is good. I have seen some kids just screaming and taking the piss and that is a pain to see and listen to.

Let's ignore the ones that take a piss. I am meaning the class acts. For example I discovered Keywest that rarely do small gigs and that are top class. It's a shame if they banned them.

But how can u differentiate between the good & bad. A few years ago outside the building I worked in a guy played the same shit music on an accordion all day every day- it would drive u bananas !!!
Another thing that REALLY gets my goat is a prick with a microphone preaching the word of our lord saviour & how we will burn in hell if we don't repent, etc etc. Fuck that shite- if anybody wants to listen to that shite go to their place of worship but the general public shouldn't have to put up with it.

I'm talking about buskers and street performers. Not the ones that preach religion and other things like that. And they were mostly concerned about the Grafton Street area. I don't think that's okay. I mean most of the acts on Grafton street are quite amazing! I have seen some talents that I won't forget anytime soon xxx
