I should have said the second person affected hadn't left the U.S. & became affected by sexual activity with his partner who had been in Venezuela.

    Sweating the small stuff here.
Even if we limit our concerns to Sexually Transmitted Diseases, Zika virus in Ireland would hardly be at the top of the list at the present time.

Is a problem in South America, and could poosibly be a future problem for the United States and some other countries.

The mosquito that transmits Zika also transmits more dangerous diseases.
The only other way it is caught is from blood or semen. To be sexually transmitted, which is very rare, would be from totally unprotected sex.
Also, Zika infections are short, mild and pose a threat only in pregnancy.

As above, there are far more serious s mosquito borne diseases
    Among them West Nile virus.
    Rift valley fever.
    Japanese B encephalitis.
    Dengue
    Yellow fever
    And the big one, malaria.
Zika if you notice your infection at all gives mild flu like symptoms.
The cerebral form of malaria could likely give you an early grave.
Zika is of importance to pregnant women who should not travel to affected areas or have unprotected sex with a male(presumably) who has returned from such an area - until the requisite time has elapsed.
The above applies especially to the first three months of pregnancy, when birth defects can more easily happen in the developing foetus.
2 cases of Zika are supposed to have been confirmed in people who had returned from affected areas.
Unless you're having unprotected sex with these two, no big deal;-)

Yes, they do tend to bite when going down on your dick.
