This has all party support and I'm sure high (probably good majority) public support.
No matter who forms the next government, will likely be revived and pushed through in some form.
This idea of EU involvement is also a red herring.
States still have a lot of legal autonomy.
Sweden has its version of this law.
    We have our abortion laws.
And in the extremely unlikely event of this matter ever coming before the European Court of Justice,, don't expect much there either.
    Merely my (uninformed) opinion.

For what its worth, i doubt the law would be upheld constitutionally - the State simply doesn't have the right to dictate the motives or indeed living accomodation (brothel)of consenting adults once consent is present . In this case , consent is clearly offered via the advertising of particular sexual services for x time and xx money. Once the correct fee has been paid, then consent is given .
Would suggest the very existence of an exchange of an agreed fee makes the issue of consent very explicit. Laws already exist for coercion, abuse etc.

I strongly suspect that the public are evenly divided between legal rights and banning though i'd guess the latter are probably marginally greater by virtue of the ever present TORL campaign which offers a simplistic, attractive and of course false solution.

Once the correct fee has been paid, a heroin dealer consents to give me my fix.
Consenting adults,, minding their own business.

Perhaps its just a poor choice of words, but I regard the issue of consent separate to the fee paid.
My wife caught me wearing ladies underwear and threatened to leave me.
So I packed up all her clothes
    And left.

Proposed law does not criminalise sex seller working on her/his own .

Brothel laws compromise that sex seller's safety by demanding that they work alone or face criminalisation.

Heroin is a substance not medically approved by any known international health organisation , whose composition varies widely .

Best of luck to anybody doing to the courts claiming that their human rights to sell unprescribed ,unregulated substances are being breached.

At what point do you feel that consent is given ? For me , i would've thought the handing over of the agreed fee was the point of consent , which of course still remains within the escorts remit if the client does anything that makes her uncomfortable . In exactly the same way , that in a one-night stand , a person engaging in foreplay backs off if proceedings take a perceived uncomfortable turn.

Gosh, I hope the OP is right
If the law doesn't pass tomorrow, I swear I get drunk to celebrate (I normally don't drink)

Considering the money made by EI surely the escorts in particular shouldn't have to rely on the legal opinions of poorly informed punters. EI could ask their lawyer to explain and update the passage of the bill. It's scandoulous that escorts appear to be deliberately kept in the dark about effecting their livelihood.
