    Eat less, move around more.

Cut out sugar. I like the low gi diet myself.

Low intensity activity to start. Try the couch to 5k or c25k program. There's lots of free apps for it.

You seem to have some expertise in this area. Professional wanker?

Animal, or Ralph? Ralph isn't really a rocker though... Must be animal.

Have done my fair share over the past 40 odd years, something I never get tired of.

I did a 10 day sugar detox right before Christmas, cut out all artificial/refined sugar, only had it from natural sources like fruit. I didn't get to weigh myself unfortunately, as I managed to bring a cold with me back from Ireland, so I spent the entire 10 days sick at home, and only have access to a scale at the gym.

But despite no workouts for the 10 days, I still managed to lose something, I was definitely looking slimmer around the waist, might've dropped a kilo or so, and that's just from 10 days off sugar. Getting in to a regular program the has a bit of weight training as well as age-appropriate levels of cardio should get things going in a favourable direction.
