Well there is a school of thought that there may be money being made through other means than advertising and actually that is just a small section of their income, so superfluous. We don't actually matter to them that much either. (allegedly)

However I agree with everything you said
Old habits die hard , and I have seen the rants by Escorts
complaining of the recruitment drives in Romania ,
before those same rants were quickly deleted.
All those unverified ads and no reviews are coming from somewhere.
It would make little financial sense to keep paying for ads that are changed regularly.

The way I see it they are one and the same! EI's customers are Escorts — It is the escorts who pay EI for advertising on their site.
