Default Opportunity to name storms affecting Ireland and Britain after favourite Escorts

The public is to be given the opportunity to name storms affecting Ireland and Britain this autumn and winter.

Met Éireann is teaming up with the British Met Office to run the project over the coming months when storms are likely to be at their strongest.

A storm will be named when it is deemed to have the potential to cause "medium" or "high" wind impacts.

People will be able to send in their suggestions via Facebook, Twitter and email.

The names will be collated and will then be allocated in alphabetical order, alternating between male and female names.

I think we should name them after our favourite Escorts. (Though I doubt if any storms will be dangerous enough to be named Rachel)
What do you think, and what name would you give to a storm.

In memory of an awesome woman Laura Lee RIP
It's so difficult to articulate just how much she meant. Inspirational, brave and irreplaceable - our hero.
Please do what you can for her daughter. Deeply appreciated.

The names chosen so far are; Abigail, Barney, Clodagh, Desmond, Eva, Frank, Gertrude, Henry, Imogen,Jake, Katie, Lawrence, Mary, Nigel, Orla,Phil, Rhonda,Steve, Tegan,Vernon, Wendy.

A storm will be named when it may cause a substantial impact to the UK and Ireland.

I look forward to Abigail's review, assuming the mods don't delete it.

What about the aptly named Irish Storm.

    Probably too nonspecific.

(I'm fairly sure this is an escort's name)

There's already been a Hurricane Sandy, which is close enough, I guess.

Laura. In honour of Laura Lee. With any luck she'll cause some damage.
