Default If you were immortal, would you allow yourself to fall in love?

Immortality...frozen in time at a certain age, never aging, something many people crave, but it has its down side.
For instance, whilst you remain the same youthful age, your lover would age and eventually die. You would outlive every lover, ultimately never growing old with them.
Your husband\wife would eventually look like your father\mother and then your grandfather\grandmother

The same for any children you have, and also any pets you would long outlive

Would you still seek out love or hide away from it? Afraid of the hurt it will always eventually cause you, leaving you alone every time.

Would there still be a regular turnaround of 20 yr old escorts on this site?

If you were immortal you'd be locked in a foyer of an anonymous apartment block with Tom Rambo

Not seeking love and never will, don,t want children and have no pets
That immortality would suit me fine
Would have plenty of time to see all the world and see as many escorts as possible
And no need for a nagging wife

but thats means if your immortal you can do and have anything you want, you wouldn't even have to pay for sex anymore You wouldn't have to pay water charges or tax, you could give the Guards the two fingers and feck all they could do about it...is that all such a good thing ???

If you were immortal you could still suffer consequences. such as murdering someone, you could still be locked up for...."life"

you could still be gravely injured, crippled for example. it states immortality, not infinite good health. and again immortality not omnipotence or all powerful to just do what you like without regard to consequences.

what if immortality still required nourishment, food and water, you still need to earn a living to supply yourself, guess what you are paying water charges. you need to live somewhere.

finally, i think love comes in many different forms, you can love your friends without being In Love with them. so you dont necessarily need a lover, but companiions for company is a must i think. someone to share your time and experiences with, even if its for what might seem like a short time in an infinite life. spending 20-30 years with people is better than being alone forever. and you can always make new friends.

yes it applys to lovers too, which again i think might appeal to some, a life without love is not life. after all, you can love travelling, love sports, love games and all sorts of things. without love, you deny many of your emotions and therfore cannot life a fulfilling life, what are we vulcans?

This is essentially the plot of the Japanese Manta series 'Mermaids Saga' by Rumiko Takahashi.

A young man becomes immoral by eating the flesh of a mermaid; but after 500 years of seeing those he cares about grow old and die, he doesn't want to live anymore...
