Great to see our own Catriona make some strong arguments in this article. Well done.
Indeed she does, but unfortunately I fear it will be a futile effort. As Mrs. Fitzgerald put it, it is not about the welfare of the sex workers in general or even about human trafficking, it is about sending a message that the purchase of sex is not acceptable.(and that is why this law will pass no matter what )
In essence we are dealing with a morale and religious police state.
It really feels like they are borrowing a page from the Islamic states or north Korea's doctrine. But here in the western world its call democracy.

I was just about make this very point. You are absolutely right.

They have no interest in sex workers rights. For them ”the purchase of sex is unacceptable"
To them everything else is irrelevant.

It doesn't matter if the model works or not.
The question is really if they have the right to impose their religious and moral values on others.

Correct, this is what it is all about. I suppose if I was an Irish woman, I'd be trying to stamp this out myself.

Its a joke that this activity is any business of the State.

It's nice to see some sense injected into the debate for a change - thanks to Catriona!

On a related note though, with the election coming up early next year it's highly possible that "law" won't be put in place for quite a while to come.

Excellent piece Catriona. The more publicity the better.

Well done also to kate for her input into the comments section.

the purchase of sex is unacceptable

    Unacceptable to whom?

Who gets to decide what is acceptable and what is not?
