It comes down to money and the sports cos. Ben johnson was screwed for using yet Lewis used in the same race and got the gold after johnson was screwed. Its simple really. Lewis was caught as well but brushed under the carpet by the U.S. As he was their all American hero.
Unless they bring in blood tests then no gold medal can be claimed to be won cleanly.
