That said it is a bit ridiculous that the amounts of searches are limited and that they didnt have a deal with Garmin or google or whoever to facilitate directions.

Satnavs need a system which is based on coordinates i.e. latitude and longitude. The new eircode system is not. Hence it can't be used. The loc8 system can. And they paid €27m for it. I feel another computerized voting coming on.

The uk is a system developed in the 50's and is a coordinate system which is sequential. Eircodes are neither. You can't even transfer it to google maps to find where you're going. You're stuck with the lousy map on their site. A dreadful waste of money that will only be used to identify houses for services.
