A great thread title. Laura is inspirational and fights for what she believes in, which is quite simply the safety and rights of sex workers.

She has taken a shedload of shit from those opposed to sex work in Ireland and just keeps right on going. No industry has had more blatant lies told about it than sex work. Due to a mixture of prejudice, ignorance and greed, the likes of TORL and Ruhama, helped by a naive and compliant media have conducted a high powered campaign, heavily reliant on public ignorance of the subject.

On the other side, there is the hugely funded pimp lobby with their slick propaganda and fleet of private jets to ferry their representatives round the globe in defence of sex work.

Actually, rather like TORL's stats, that last bit is just total shite. On the other side are in fact a small group of determined sex workers and allies with virtually no funding or resources, just doing their best to tell the truth. And their most prolific and recognisable spokesperson is Laura Lee. As Kate says, she most certainly isn't alone, but she does take a lot of the flak, with Ray Darcy's impressively pig ignorant performance yesterday being just the tip of the iceberg.

Laura is one hell of a brave lady and deserves all the support she can get. And as already mentioned, she can be helped in practical terms through donations via her website.
