I'm certain that you will find that of the 200 or so countries in the world, at least 180 of them are weirder than Ireland

I think there's more uproar if you're against it,you're some kind of homophobic throwback to a bygone age, but yes we are fucked, we've a centre right party in power who are playing the liberal card purely for votes but that's politics for you!

It may be that the 1935 constitution unwittingly discriminated against what was a criminal act at that time?

Also pretty fucked that they're taking water charges straight from people's earnings or social welfare and getting revenue to give people's addresses. Very fucked!

I remember livestreaming the seanad hearing on the gender recognition bill and about a quarter of it was Burton tooting her horn about how Labour brought it forward and Labour supported it and Labour are owed my eternal gratitude, despite the fact that actual advocacy groups have ripped the bill a new one, several times, before it was amended.

I mean, great, fine, it's cool your party is supporting stuff like this. But I'm always going to look with a degree of cynicism at any party that pushes for LGBT-friendly bills after said bills are already close to or past reaching critical mass. Call me jaded, but the 'socially liberal but we're in bed with banks' types irritate me to no end.
