The suspended sentence is depressingly unsurprising but I don't think it's necessarily to do with her being an escort, the amount of suspended sentences handed out now regularly even for violent crimes is a disgrace.

Maybe its that we just don't have the resources to jail people ?

Regularly you see people convicted and only then hear that they have 30 previous convictions. That escort was very brave but another girl might be completely traumatised by that experience.
