    Default 'cunt'

Is there a difference in offensiveness between calling a man a 'cunt' and calling a woman a 'cunt'?? I have a feeling that in relation to certain male politicians it may be seen as an almost acceptable term.

    Yes probably,
and it depends on the tone of voice and accompanying facial expression when directed at a male.

I understand what you mean but perhaps I should have said 'referring' to a man as a 'cunt' rather than 'calling'. I would not normally use bad language but I referred to someone recently as a self-serving, sanctimonious cunt and it seemed quite appropriate, at least among men.

    You lucky cunt
    You smart cunt (you)
    You happy cunt
These are not insults if a man says them to another man.

You're some cunt can be used either way.
It's just an old English word.
Depends how you choose to use it.
