I use trend internet security its good maybe too good i was trying to set up a home netowk recently and the firewall wont let me and if i download anything with a keygen its usually reads it as a virus but other than those niggles its very good

I'm a pc technician guy. Done security for a bank about 8 years ago, when internet banking was starting up.

All honestly, the most efficient way to get rid of the malware/virus is re-format your computer, load your system with your toshiba backup dvd.
Depending on how this virus is created it might find you again. This has to do with, loads of fact, but the guy you got it from, might not have removed it yet, so it will constantly try and hit your ip address again. Close all your security wholes on your computer. This is properly the best way of doing this.

If you dont want to go trough the process of reinstalling the system, there is other options, but again, depending on how this virus is made, it can be rather difficult to remove. Like it can load itself into your kernel. Very messy stuff to remove.

Now depending on again how it is made, it might not do anything else than just show you pop-ups and spam, that will tell you to buy stuff. It might also be a key logger which sends information to the creator of the virus. I wouldn't be to scared myself. The biggest worry is that it is slowing down your system, which is VERY annoying.
