If you're leaving a 20% tip in restaurants you're leaving twice the norm.
In the US, the minimum tip is considered to be 15% with that rising to 20% in areas considered to be tourist or vacation hot spots.
The US is totally different-In a lot of places very little wage and all tips. Also I have noticed that in recent years a lot of restaurants in New York have introduced very heavy service charges. In the US in general tipping is a way of life. This is not the US and had a totally different culture.
I'd hate to see the US culture of tipping as an expected behaviour becoming the expectation or norm over here. Even when the service is terrible in the US, they still believe that they should be tipped as it's just what people do...
