Default The Internet, Narco Corridos, ISIS, WTFs going on

Has the internet taken away some of out innocence?

The other morning before I got out of bed to have my breakfast I was able to watch 21 people have their heads cut off and I will be honest I passed it by as if it was of no consequence and onto the next news story about probably some Zlist celebs dog. Have I really become such a heartless bastard?

I saw a film the other night called Narco Cultura about basically Mexican ballads been written for Mexican Drug Cartels. The film looks at the city of Juárez in Mexico which has around 3,600 murders in a year. This music lyrics consists of basically saying " we have guns and we will cut off your head" and it does seem to glamourise a very brutal and evil type of people. I know gangsters will be gangsters and all that but this music is being used to promote them to superstar stautus and the crimes they commit are almost romanticised in the songs.
One of the musical bands gathers its information from a website called http://www.elblogdelnarco.org PLEASE BE WARNED THIS SITE CONTAINS IMAGES AND VIDEOS OF AN EXTREME AND GRAPHICAL NATURE
Sorry I had to put that warning in just in case any of you guys are squeamish. As one journalist in the movie said it like society has lost because these crimes and murders are becoming main stream and almost cool.

My point is as good and as educational as the internet is and what advancement we have made in our lives with it has it taken away out innocence. Its good to know what is going on in the world but has it dampened our empathy to others as we distance ourselves from these horrors by the fact we see them on a screen so it is acceptable. I know these horrors have been going on since the dawn of time and we in the west have become sheltered and "civilised" but do these images promote violence and make the youth more violent than maybe they might have been if they did not see such violence on our screen.

I do wonder with all our consumerism, need for instant gratification, access to violence, porn and whatever else we want is the internet the thing that will destroy humanity as we overload ourselves with information be it good, bad or just plain old useless. Will the children of today be dumbed down more violent versions of us, detached from others unable to spell without spellcheck or make a boiled egg without Youtube?

Other than that only for the internet we wouldn't have EI, a good thing or a bad thing?

It's all evolution. when we invented the first car we could have worried about road deaths.
All that shit you describe is sick and It concerns me that wannabe sickos have access to that. I would
not watch it, but that's just me.

On the narcotic area. After all that money and death trying to stop drugs,
What would you like? It's all available. Even more sick.

I viewed this documentary a couple of months ago. It didn't hold my attention for more than half of the length of the show. It shows you that every society needs an outlet to deal with the world they experience firsthand. There are huge numbers of drugs cartel murders every year in Mexico, tens of thousands. The best way the Mexican youth can deal or make sense of this crazy world is through the Narco music. Personally I though it stank but then it's personal taste.

The internet is merely showcasing whats going on in the world. Without it, the world would be a much more corrupt place than it is already.

de-sensitisation. the more youre exposed to something the less impact it has on you, if this is visual horror then its the minds way of living through it cause if you have to experience it again you better get use to it. same principle applies to drugs and perscription ones to, porn, escorts, gambling, the list is endless. you always want the next high. the most dangerous thing is boredom. an example of this, remember jamie bulger? toddler killed by two young children in england 20 years ago? anniversary in the last month? what was was their reason when asked "why did they kill him"? boredom they said, sums it up really...

funloven12 hit the nail on the head I think.
You have me a bit confused, you thanked slaves post but start your reply with f**k you, do you agree with his post?
For myself, I wonder do we just get more used to these things as we get older? The more you see the less you appreciate it. I grew up with the troubles, and day and daily, reports were on the news about deaths as a result of actions by both sides, it got to the point that you barely noticed it, unless you were directly affected in some way. Live aid brought the plight of ethiopian famine victims to the forefront, but after a while you failed to register the images you were seeing on a regular basis. Iraq, afghanistan ,wether it was the russians or the coalition forces involved, viewer fatigue set in.
Maybe it is a good thing that our lifespan is not overly long, just think what we might be like if we lived twice as long.

Or maybe we get some sense!??

It's up to yourself not to be to hardened by other peoples suffering no mater how desensitised you are.

Sometimes a little research and empathy on a subject, I think.
