    Angry Nanny state strikes again

Not content with deciding its the states business what consenting adults do in private bedrooms, now we're to be stopped buying alcohol below a price the government decides is appropriate.

To be fair, most of the wine under 8e taste like vinegar and could strip cars, so the paint thinning companies will suffer more than people who genuinely like wine etc.

It's more about govt attitude and interference than the price or quality of the wine, but if the lowest price increases then the prices of all wines likely to increase.

$10 minimum hit for liquor. Specialist cabs/vans with sick bays to transport them home.

The reason why people drink too much in this country is a cultural reason, a mentality that people have that means they feel if they drink , they have to get drunk.

If price of alcohol was the motivating factor for the major consumption of alcohol, then we would see similar drinking patterns in Germany, where you can buy a 500ml can of nice tasting beer for around 50c and a bottle of wine for around E2.

Unfortunately, the only major effect this change will have, will be to squeeze more & more money from those people who barely have any money left at the end of the week.
You wont know, until you try!

This is not my area (liquor) , but these people have power. The Lobbyists have the Govt in their pocket.
Something like that is bound to happen. I seen the liberalization of availability explode in 2002.

Under the new proposed law, the minimum price is set by the number of units of alcohol in every bottle/can sold
so selling 2 bottles of wine, even at a buy one get one free, still has to cost a minimum 2x8.80 = 17.60
IF AT FIRST YOU DON'T SUCCEED, TRY AND TRY.......AH F**K IT, I GIVE UP

That unit system wasn't the most user friendly?
