I think it's disgusting and would never see it, I think all it teaches is how to take control of women, treat them like shit have power and control over them and manipulate them, this movie does not even portray what BDSM is, because the lack of simple details such as safe words aren't there.

I can't help but be reminded that this movie is exactly like the scumbag who manipulated Elaine O Hara, the comparisons are uncanny.

It's a movie that has disgusting under tones of manipulation and abuse and calling it entertainment.

The Story of O is much more compelling and enjoyed by those invovled in real BDSM, although from what I recall there are no safe words used in this either, but a period of training and willingness to please.

In defense of 50 shades of grey, the lady in question is meant to be highly intelligent and switched on and it is her desire for him and his status that leads to the acceptance of the inevitable lack of balance in the relationship. She is not perceived as a vulnerable push over. Having said that, she quickly becomes a complete wimp crying over a man she hardly knows and there ends my reading of the story.

    Yep agree Kate
    Book was terrible
However the film might actually be better as it won't have Anastasia's awful internal monologue
I also suspect quite a number of ladies will go just to see Jamie Dornan

by the way, how do you define "real BDSM"?
Does it have something to do with "safe word"? If someone is using safe words, does it mean this is "real BDSM" for you?
    Just wondering....

Sometimes feeling is more than thousands words...
I donīt use safe words (i RULE the session, so i decide what to do) unless someone wants it and let me know that BEFORE the session starts, i always use my feeling and have always "introduction dialog" before.

Its out of the subject of this thread, but i saw few times the term "safe word" in this discussion, so was just curious.
Itīs all POV (point of view).

That's odd as from what I heard it was mostly middle ages house wives reading the books. I'm not sure youth has anything to do with it.

I suppose it's more to do with innocents. If you have not had your eyes open to the ways of the acceptable norm sexually, then anything slightly diverse and 'allowed' is going to be jumped at, especially in a world of taboo.
