    Yes in an Irish household the closing of the door to keep in the heat is taken as a given. Dont close it and the best outcome for you is the death stare. The worst outcome is best kept unspoken.

    A friend went to view a house for sale some years ago. There were corks in the light sockets where normally you'd expect bulbs.

    The explanation was that the owners of the property didn't want the electric to waste away
