    Default Je suis Charlie

What a fantastic demonstration of solidarity for freedom taking place in Paris today.

World leaders from all over the world walking with hundreds of thousands of people in a march for Freedom of expression.

This is Love to allow your fellow human beings to have the freedom to express themselves as they wish.
All that is required is RESPECT. Express yourself but do not abuse or exploit your fellow human being.

People must have the Freedom to Live as they see fit.

All governments must legislate in a way that balances freedom and protects the vulnerable.

Only in this way can we have a true Republic.

Je suis Charlie, Je suis Jew Je suis policeman,
Je suis Escort, Je suis Client, Je suis Vulnerable

    Even Isis et al !?

They believe they're in the right !! Their Caliphate ! Defending their beliefs !! Etc.

I'm with you on your sentiments though !! xx if only ! If only , it could be Respect and Live and Let Live all around !!

But then , shouldn't we Westerners be getting the heck out of their neck of the woods ??

Would be much easier to be righteous and defend our societies' values if we didn't try to impose our own on them ... ?

Democracy -- it's not for everyone.

Not every society is mature enough , or intellectually / culturally equipped to handle such freedoms.

Who are we to try to shove it down others' throats ?

Clearly it has backfired now on several fronts.

Reminds me of the War on Drugs --- at which point will we admit that imposing on others does not work ??
I do what I want. I cannot do otherwise.

Over 3 million people marched yesterday in solidarity with the victims of terrorism.
They had the enlightenment to say I am one with the victim. "I am a Journalist". "I am a Jew". "I am a Policeman".
They marched to be one with the 17 victims.

Can humanity do much more then that. Yes it can. We need to take a quantum leap.

There where 20 deaths last week in France. Can we identify with the 3 terrorists. Each one of them spent 9 months in a mothers womb. Each one of them played as children in all innocence.

For humanity to evolve each one of us has to identify the terrorist in ourselves.

The fear in us that creates greed and selfishness and a lack of respect for others. There's enough in this world for the needy but there will never be enough for the greedy . In very subtle ways, through our fears and insecurities , each of us has the capability each day to terrorise and exploit our neighbor, friends and family.
Governments do the same in our name on a larger scale and sometimes not so subtly.

Its not easy to say " I am a terrorist" and "I am a victim" but ultimately we are. We are one.

To transcend you must first identify in yourself that which you are rising above. How else can we evolve.
The west had its war on terror. It doesn't work

We need to Love accept and understand "the terrorist" and wear a badge that says

" I am The Terrorist. Please forgive me".

That's total and complete solidarity. That is LOVE.

Millions of people took to the streets of Paris and cities across France on Sunday to rally in defense of free speech and against terrorism in the wake of Wednesday's deadly attack on satirical newspaper Charlie Hebdo. The French Interior Ministry told the Associated Press that 3.7 million marched throughout France, making the demonstrations the largest in the country's history.
Adding to the symbolic weight of the demonstrations, more than 40 world leaders joined the start of the Paris march, linking arms in an act of solidarity. But as Reporters Without Borders points out, their policies at home are far from compatible with the solidarity for free speech on display throughout France.
The organization said Sunday that it was "appalled by the presence of leaders from countries where journalists and bloggers are systematically persecuted such as Egypt (which is ranked 159th out of 180 countries in RWB's press freedom index), Russia (148th), Turkey (154th) and United Arab Emirates (118th)."
"We must demonstrate our solidarity with Charlie Hebdo without forgetting all the world’s other Charlies," Reporters Without Borders Secretary-General Christophe Deloire said in a statement. "It would be unacceptable if representatives of countries that silence journalists were to take advantage of the current outpouring of emotion to try to improve their international image and then continue their repressive policies when they return home. We must not let predators of press freedom spit on the graves of Charlie Hebdo."
They're right. In what can only be described as an epic series of 21 pointed tweets, London School for Economics Middle East Society co-president Daniel Wickham points out that many of the world leaders who marched Sunday through the streets of Paris are not the world's biggest advocates for press freedom
