    Default How to stop trafficking?

I for one am sad to see that the new laws coming in will make it illegal to purchase escort services. But I am happy that maybe they will help out girls who have been trafficked into country. I realise that we can never really know who has been a victim of this?? What does everyone think?

What is your personal definition of trafficking?

Yes I read this before, doesn't sound like Ruhama will help at all.

No they won't, but my original question was what YOU personally regard trafficking to be.

Ah, you mean coercion. In the eyes of the law, trafficking is just transporting someone from one place to another for the purpose of prostitution, whether they are in control or not. Like, if I was nice and bought a plane ticket for an escort, I would be a trafficker, even if I had no other involvement in what she does. This is the misconception that the Irish government and the likes of Ruhama (the 'rescue agency') are trying to reinforce.

It's like calling someone who gives their friend a joint for a couple of euros a 'drug baron'.

So far, only in N Ireland.

And what, exactly, is "purchasing sex"? Is buying your girlfriend dinner a "purchase"? Is buying her a present also a "purchase"? And if these things are "purchasing sex", how do you tell the difference between a "professional" and an "amateur"?
