    Default Compliment or Insult?

    Suppose someone said to you.....

"I hate to see you leave, but I love to see you go".......

    Compliment or Insult......

Some people have to have the last word,
but they don't actually want you to stop talking,
as they like the sound of their own voices too much.

Sounds more like it might be bordering on the insulting territory if thats the context ?

I think it's an insult anyway to be honest, was just wondering what others thought so held off saying so....

Maybe more of a complisult depending on the context...You know something people may say as a compliment but which are actually insults...another classic one been "I'd be all over you, if I was drunk".

And no, you've taken it out of context, thank god!

She was probably just teasing you. Don't dwell on it too much, otherwise you'll go mad.

If it was the wife, then yeah, sounds pretty standard.
