Default Escort Guest Post: Ruhama and how they "assist" women

Thank you to Laura Lee for sending this post, wonderfully written by English Kate regarding her views on how Ruhama "assist" women in the sex industry:

Great article all the way through.

    I found this particularly interesting:

"Ruhama had income of €602,284 of which €599,560 was used on administration fees."

So then, let's do the math:

    € 602,284
    -€599,560
    ________
    €2,724

So then, AFTER they PAY THEMSELVES, the folks running Ruhama have a 'discretionary budget' of €2,724 to actually help women out of escorting/prostitution!? Something tells me that most of that is spent on their office Christmas party...
    Fighting the Good Fight...

    Good article,
I also noted that in this years annual report, tyre was a thread on it here somewhere, that ruhama are sitting on a rather large heap of cash in their balance sheet.

Remember that Ruhama will be reading what we write and what we think, and looking for ammunition.

Look back into history: the origins of what Laura Agustín calls the "rescue industry" began in the 18th century with the Magladene Institutions. These incarcerated women who seemed to be capable of redemption, kept them for two to three years, force fed them religious indoctrination, and released them on licence. Those incarcerated were paraded on Sundays, during religious ceremonies. These institutions are the basis of the modern penal systems.

You might wonder where the real motivations of this were. I strongly suspect that it was parading your "compassion" in public, seeing that you cared for the "fallen" in society.

Sadly, I think that this is still what motivates Ruhama and others of their ilk; they express their concern for those who have fallen on hard times, those who cannot other wise survive. But their espoused concern is for their own souls, to be seen to be "doing good", and to polish their credentials and their CVs before the day of judgement.

They aren't doing it for others, they are doing it for themselves. They don't have either the insight or the brains or the compassion to realise what they are up to.

They are a bunch of shrivelled up women who have no real idea of what life is really like, yet despise others who do. They have been brought up to believe a load of religious stuff not based on Christianity, but on the weird ideas of (sex oversexxed. but deniers) theocrats who also had no idea of feminine sexuality.

    Sorry. </rant>

While we're on the subject of Ruhama's moneybags, maybe they could ask their sponsors in the Sisters Of Mercy who apparently made €61.7 million from selling the lands around the last of their Magdalene Laundries between 1999 and 2009 what happened to all that money?

And why won't the Sisters give some of that money to the compensation fund for the women they interned in their labour camps?
And why are Ruhama still looking for money from the taxpayers?
    How about it, ladies? Hmmm?

I certainly hope so. They could do with a few home truths.

Have heard similar stories from irish escorts of how they provided help.. But in essence they didn't follow through.. Waste of government funding..

A tax payer funded, ideological rescue organisation with no oversight that lobbies, (using disinformation, dubious statistics and scaremongering), the government that funds it to introduce a law that is going to stigmatise and marginalise a group in society. If this law were about any other aspect of society there would be uproar.

Judges have made people charged with various prostitution 'offences' pay fines/donations to ruhama. I'd say they will be in for a windfall when the new laws (which they lobbied for) come in,
