I didn't forget at all, but that is not my problem. I'm just telling you how touring can be. You can lose out on regs, as they go else where and you can lose out on when touring, because your timing is not in line with the person who has asked you to go there.

Touring is something I am looking at reducing in the New Year. I personally feel torn, as most places I have visited I have met clients that I would love to see again, but it's tiring driving everywhere (I hate public transport), locations are not always ideal and you are effectively paying for the place that you are based in and the place you are touring in, so paying twice.

Tours can be funny too. You may get one day when the phone is off the hook busy and the next day dead. There is no way to predict how things will go. Also , pre-bookings are not reliable, as an example in Dublin I had 3 pre-bookings for my day of arrival. Two clients I had met before and will meet again, as they are both lovely and one I had not met before. The two I had met before, both had to cancel for legitimate reasons and the newbie went ahead. I should have earned €1130 that day, but actually earned €550.

Now, I was lucky that the one booking I had was a good one, but it could have been a whole lot different and when you consider the travel costs and the accommodation costs, plus needing to buy food while away (I was in a hotel), it all mounts up.

It's far more risky than staying in one place, paying lower accommodation fees and getting a steady stream of regs come to you.

I guess it's a matter of how motivated you are and if staying in one place would be boring, or if you enjoy moving around a little and the new experiences that come with it. I like my photography, so travelling around Ireland can be great for my hobby, so I doubt I will ever stop altogether, but if I get a lot of hassle in one place, I would not be likely to go back. For me so far Waterford and Kilkenny are off my list of locations to return to.
