It’s a total disgrace it would never be allowed in the UK

I heard a guy ask another person in a hospital in Ireland recently if there was a quiet place he could go and he was advised to go to the children’s ward as it would be a lot quitter there for him to sit down and him and his mate just walked in without anyone stopping him to ask if he had children. I did ask him if he had a sick kid there and was told No, he just wanted somewhere quite to sit down. I am totally gobsmacked that this is allowed and regardless I saw 5 security guards at the door not one of them stopped him or his mate. .

This country is totally feck-up it’s an open invitation to paedophiles

Don't fool youself that it wouldn't happen in the UK too.
(You just haven't got personal experience of it or witnessed it)

The saddest part about this is that the guy might have a wife etc dying or very ill in the same hospital ,yet poor funding from government means he is forced to seek solitude anywhere he can find it.....and because the place he is directed to is unsuitable means he also has to put up with the modern day veiled assumption that any guy around kids is a paedophile)

I know you are commenting more about the unsuitability of where he was directed to and the lack of security..........but I just think that in general its a sorry state of affairs where ...............man in vicinity of child=high risk

How do you deduce that the guy is a paedophile?

To be fair, she didn't imply he was.
She points out that it would be a open invite for a paedophile to gain entry too.
My own point was that its just sad that we have come to the stage where
(1)The guy had no where else to go
(2)Im sure it happens elsewhere too
(3)In this modern world he would be looked at with cautious eyes just because he is a guy in the vicinity of children

Thanks for clearing that up with Clueless for me honey, but the guys who walked into the children's ward were two (of 5 other friends) who attended the A&E with a patient who just were suffering with a hangover from the night before.

And I have worked looking after the terminally ill for over 10 years and I can assure you I have never seen anyone person without ID or having to sign in allowed into any children's wards Plus the children ward door are security locked in the UK not left open like there are here.

Well In that case it should have been reported to the hospital management at very least.
If that much information was known at the time it happened (Because it wasn't known after reading the original post) ,theres a responsibility on others to make it common knowledge.
Im not saying they shouldn't be there because they are male...more because it seems they too might have alcohol consumed

When I got home after 12 hours waiting about and still being asked to wait another 4 hours but buggered off home, I posted on-line over the internet warning parents not to leave their children alone while in Irish hospitals due to what I had saw and did mention it to a couple of the security guards there who were more interested in asking the 2 girls smoking the vaper fags to stop. and I was looked at like there was something wrong with me due to my concerns I raised. But personally no one should be allowed around children unless they have a reason to be there, regardless of gender. Its totally fucked up allowing stangers to be around any child for safety reason. I would totally grass anyone I saw misbehave to any child.

    Agreed
Personally id write a letter to the hospital administrator/CEO stating that if you didn't receive acknowledgement of your letter ,you would ensure it went further.
That would be enough for them to begin getting their house in order.

Unfortunately paedophiles will take an open opportunity if its made aware to them and similarly theres plenty of cases of mentally disturbed (for various reasons)women snatching babies.(Admittedly the latter is generally with regard to maternity hospitals)
