hi all, what is the difference between the term crossdresser and transvestite, is there a difference? I occasionally dress up so am I a crossdresser/transvestite?

I know there is obviously a big difference between a transvestite, transexual and transgender person but a transvestite/crossdresser is definitely the same thing HOWEVER I think (and I may be wrong) but I think a transvestite lives their life that way whereas a crossdresser is maybe someone who just does it behind closed doors in private x

My understanding of it is this:

A crossdresser is a man who enjoys wearing women's clothes from time to time. Whereas a transvestite is a man who attempts to transform himself COMPLETELY through the use of clothes, make up, wigs, etc and adopts female mannerisms to give the outward impression that he is a woman.
